How to Make Accessible Lists in Documents and Moodle

Accessibility Tip

Decorative: Student looking at phone.

Bulleted and numbered lists are a great way to summarize and organize important information, but when they are not formatted in an accessible way, screen reader users will miss out on the fact that your content is, in fact, a list. Manually adding numbers or letters to text is not the same thing as formatting content as a list when it comes to screen readers – with this manual method, your list will just read like separate paragraphs to a screen reader.

Solution: Use the built-in list feature found in Moodle and word processing software so your document provides information to screen readers about how to interpret the content.
