Now is your chance to register for DELTA’s 2019 Summer Shorts in Instructional Technologies held the week of Aug. 12!

Are you interested in applying online teaching strategies to your course, but don’t know how to start? Want to revamp your Moodle site before the new semester starts, or connect with faculty members from across the university? Eager to explore gamification, instructional videos and more?

Whether you’re refining your skills or looking to discover all that instructional technologies have to offer, Summer Shorts is the place for you. DELTA will teach you everything you never knew about online learning and prepare you for a successful semester.

Take it from DELTA Faculty Fellow and Summer Shorts regular James McConnell: “It’s a really condensed conference. I think I learned more in two days than I had in a span of 10 years. You can be a novice or you can be really advanced, and you’re still going to learn a lot.”

This year, we’re helping you raise student success with the theme The Sky is the Limit: Elevate Your Teaching by providing a diverse calendar of events.

Join us for these exciting days:

  • Monday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Face-to-face conference sessions, keynote presentation, panels and Speed Geeking held at the McKimmon Center.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Online conference sessions including a keynote presentation held in Zoom.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — WolfWare Boot Camp held at the Avent Ferry Technology Center.
  • Friday, Aug. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. — Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) workshop held at the Center for Technology and Innovation.

Face-to-Face Sessions

You’ve heard of speed dating, but what about Speed Geeking? Get acquainted with the different tools and technologies for online learning in several brief presentations.

Shake hands with the DELTA Faculty Fellows and learn how they find innovative ways to teach with technology in their keynote presentation. Later on, sit down for sessions you won’t want to miss like “The Hidden World of G Suite” and a faculty panel on Quality Matters.

Face-to-face sessions will take place at the McKimmon Center on Monday, Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Online Sessions

Can’t make it to Summer Shorts in person? Join us from the beach, an airport or your living room for remote sessions and a keynote presentation in Zoom. We’ll teach you how to best leverage online learning in your courses with a series of engaging workshops.

Hear from the most important perspective and step into the minds of digital learners with the Online Student panel.

Online sessions will take place in Zoom on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WolfWare Bootcamp

Make preparations for the fall semester and beyond with WolfWare Bootcamp, your comprehensive guide to NC State’s home for all forms of online learning.
