Early Access Teaching Begins

Roughly 60 faculty members and 4,000 students are teaching and learning in Canvas this fall as part of the Early Access group. This is the first time NC State courses are running in Canvas, and what this group learns will shape the training, support and resources DELTA builds for the future.

For everyone else this fall: Moodle remains the learning management system for all other courses. A student enrolled in an Early Access section may use both systems this semester. Instructors in those sections will let their students know where their course lives and how to get help.

A New Online Hub

DELTA has launched a dedicated site for the campus community for general information, training, resources and answers to common questions, all in one place. It will grow as the transition moves forward, so check back frequently for new updates.

Project Spaces Open in October

Beginning October 5, any instructor interested in exploring Canvas can create a Project Space. DELTA will provide onboarding, basic training and support resources to help you get oriented. Watch for details on how to request a space closer to the date.

Explore Canvas Basics with DELTA

Once Project Spaces open on October 5, the Canvas Basics workshop series is the perfect way to begin familiarizing yourself with Canvas. Beginning October 7, this four-part workshop series from DELTA walks through the essentials of building and managing a course in Canvas. The full series runs twice this fall — first in October and again November.

Want to Learn More? Join the Upcoming Town Hall

The second installment of DELTA’s Learning Technologies Town Hall series is scheduled for Friday, October 9, from 10 – 11 a.m., online via Zoom. The Canvas implementation team will update the campus community on progress and timeline, then answer questions in real time.

Who’s Guiding the Moodle-to-Canvas Transition?

DELTA is not managing this transition alone. Several faculty and staff groups are shaping the move to Canvas; some carrying information between campus and DELTA, others working hands-on with the platform itself.

We’re grateful for the guidance, the honest feedback and the close connection to the campus community these groups provide. Together they give us representation and perspective from across the university, which is exactly what a transition of this scale requires.
