LearnTech Team Highlights: Kick Start Your Semester with New and Helpful Instructional Technology Knowledge Articles
It’s common for instructors to want to use a previous version of a course activity as a template to prepare for the upcoming semester’s course. There are various ways instructors can quickly copy previous course content as the starting point for an upcoming class.
Instructors may have copied over content from a previous course they are not going to use or have simply decided not to use a specific activity or resource and need to delete that item. Note if student grade data was collected as part of a Moodle activity, it should not be deleted from the course but rather hidden to preserve those course records.
If you want to organize your class by project groups, this article will guide you through the process. In addition, it also outlines how to separate individual sections after two section rosters have been combined into a single Moodle course. This helps you to manage access to relevant course content and divide course administration by those sections.
Students may complete quizzes asynchronously and during a broad window of time. The review options allow you to indicate what information a student can see about the quiz (grade, responses, etc.) and when that information is made available (right after the quiz, while it’s still open and others are completing it, or after it closes and all students should have finished the quiz).
Often, essay questions are part of assessments and need to be manually graded, or you need to adjust items that were automatically graded by Moodle. These instructions walk you through how to access the manual grading page and guide you through the grade entry process.
You may need to move items into and out of specific gradebook categories based on their particular grading scheme. Additionally, you may simply want to reorganize the location of gradebook items to clarify how they contribute to the final course grade.
Instructors may add header images to sections and subsections in a course. If instructors would like to add images that are not at the top of a section or subsection, a Text and media area should be used instead. This article provides instructions on formatting the HTML of an image so it displays as a heading at the top of a section in a Moodle course.
Moodle now allows instructors to create subsections within a course section. Subsections, and the activities or resources within them, appear in the course index and can be expanded or collapsed based on the course’s layout. There is currently a known issue where the breadcrumb navigation for subsections does not update correctly when subsections are moved in a course. This article provides an overview of different options for correcting breadcrumbs in a Moodle page.
