Upcoming and Available DELTA RFPs in support of Distance Education and On-Campus Courses

DELTA currently has three different Grant programs that support NC State Distance Education programs, individual course development and traditional, large enrollment courses. Read more to see if pursuing a grant through these programs is right for you!

DELTA IDEA Grants

The 2010-11 RFP for IDEA grants is currently underway, with a submission due date of May 27, 2010. The DELTA IDEA Grants is a competitive awards program that promotes innovation in the use of instructional technology in online Distance Education courses. Grants are awarded to support the design and development of high quality distance education courses or to explore targeted emerging technologies that show promise for Distance Education use. Receipt of a grant includes an $8,000 award and support from DELTA staff.

DELTA Distance Education Program Planning and Development Grants

The 2010-11 RFP for DE Program Planning and Development was released this month, with a submission due date of May 28, 2010. This RFP is extended each year to colleges for the planning and development of new DE programs. This funding, along with DELTA expertise in areas of instructional support, marketing, and program administration, enables the establishment of degrees, certificates, and lateral entry teacher licensure programs tailored to meet the needs of students wherever located, and to provide access to educational and career opportunities in strategic areas of economic growth for North Carolina and beyond.

DELTA Large Course Redesign Grants

The 2010-11 RFP for DELTA Large Course Redesign (LCR) Pilot Grants will be released this month, with a submission due date of July 1, 2010. The LCR Pilot Grants provide financial and staff resources for faculty involved in redesigning large courses. Through the DELTA LCR Pilot Grants, we primarily seek to help faculty and staff achieve the redesign of large introductory courses that are among the top 25 percent in enrollment, and/or the top 5 percent in enrollment in a college at NC State, and improve access to critical path courses that serve as foundation studies for students to successfully transition to more advanced study.

Two DELTA LCR Pilot Grant types are available:
LCR Planning Workshop Grant. Funds are for faculty interested in bringing in a scholar from outside the department to work with DELTA staff and an advisory board consisting of department faculty in investigating the redesign of a course that impacts 100 or more undergraduate students. The workshop will be lead by DELTA staff experienced in assisting faculty with LCR projects.

Large Enrollment Course Grant. Funds are for the redesign of large enrollment and critical path undergraduate courses. The objective is to utilize existing instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning and increase access to high-demand courses.
