Trees That Teach

You could learn about urban trees from a textbook. Or, your class could get outside to Think and Do. Through a Critical Path Course Redesign grant, DELTA staff members teamed up with Introduction to Environmental Science instructor Steph Jeffries to develop instructional and data collection materials for students to learn about campus trees.

Virtualizing Organic Chemistry Labs

Through an exploratory grant, DELTA teamed up with Maria Gallardo-Williams to create five virtual reality organic chemistry lab experiences. The student-focused and inclusive experience immerses users into the lab.

DELTA Welcomes New Class of Faculty Fellows

DELTA is excited to welcome four new Faculty Fellows for the 2018-2019 cycle. James McConnell, Justin Post, Melissa Ramirez and Stacy Supak will partner with DELTA to share teaching with technology best practices through a variety of activities. The four new Fellows will join Angie Smith who is continuing her grant through summer 2019.

DELTA Announces 2018-2019 Grant Recipients

DELTA awarded more than $240,000 in new and continuing DELTA Grants to 29 recipients across the university including eight academic colleges and the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. DELTA Grants apply innovative pedagogy, instructional technology and course design to solve instructional challenges.

Cultural Competency Module Receives Campus Technology Impact Award

The First Impressions virtual reality module received a 2018 Campus Technology Impact Award in the teaching and learning category. Developed in partnership with the Global Training Initiative, the experience allows students to dive into the minds of a global project team.

A Work in Progress: Streamlining Feed Mill Studies

A team of DELTA staff members are working with Adam Fahrenholz and Marissa Herchler on a blended learning grant to enhance the student learning experience in Feed Manufacturing Technology. The team is exploring Matterport to create a virtual tour of NC State’s teaching mill and updating a main assignment.
