Succinct Sessions for Online Course Improvement
Looking for some quick ways to improve your online courses this summer? Check out DELTA’s WolfSNAPS (Short, Nimble, Asynchronous Pedagogy Series). Designed for faculty and graduate instructors and inspired by the Quality Matters rubric, these short, topical, self-paced training sessions are filled with bite-sized tips, resources, and examples.
After 30-120 minutes, participants can walk away with a plan for how to start to improve their course. This training can be accessed at any time through REPORTER self-enrollment.
All eight WolfSNAPS sessions in the Online Course Design Series are now available, and you can choose any or all that interest you. Those who complete all eight sessions in the Online Course Design Series earn a digital badge. Sessions include:
- Setting Up for Success (templates and strategies for setting up your online course)
- Writing Effective Learning Objectives (characteristics of good learning objectives and a simple process for writing them)
- Guiding Your Students to Success with a Course Map (template and step-by-step instructions to align the components of your course)
- Providing Powerful Online Learning Materials (information and resources to determine and access the most relevant learning materials for the students in your course)
- Engaging Students with Online Learning Activities (strategies and practical ideas for building in active learning online)
- Measuring Learning (strategies to make assessments an integral part of the learning process, resources on types of assessment for online courses, and special considerations for competency-based courses)
- Choosing Technology that Works for Your Students (tips and resources for choosing and using online course technology)
- Reaching All Learners (best practices for making your course accessible and usable for your students)
In addition to the Online Course Design Series, a 9th session, DELTA Inclusive Teaching, helps faculty and graduate students get familiar with inclusive teaching pedagogy for online courses and offers best practices, actionable tips, resources, and links to more in-depth opportunities.
