DELTA Summer Workshops Bridge the Gap for NC State Instructors

DELTA is offering weekly workshops throughout the summer! We’ll cover the tools, techniques and strategies you need to effectively bridge the gap between online emergency instruction and quality online instruction. All workshops are free and open to faculty, staff and teaching graduate assistants.

Encouraging Engagement in Your Course – Summer 30-Minute Workshop Series

This series offers multiple 30-minute workshops that will include topics such as “Engagement in Synchronous and Asynchronous Classrooms,” “Creating an Instructor Welcome Video,” and “Annotating with JamBoard and Zoom.”

Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)

Quality Matters’ (QM) flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and its use in reviewing the design of online and blended courses is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators and adjunct instructors. It is particularly helpful to those new to QM or those considering the adoption of a quality assurance process for online and blended learning.

Gradescope at NC State

Are you interested in seamlessly administering and grading all of your assessments, whether online or in person? Would you like to save time grading and get a clear picture of how your students are doing in your class? If so, then consider joining us for this hands-on workshop where we will go through the steps of getting started with Gradescope and discuss how this tool has helped grading in our courses. 

My Mediasite to Panopto

Are you an experienced My Mediasite user and ready to make the move to Panopto? This workshop is focused on helping experienced My Mediasite users transition to Panopto. Attendees will learn basic Panopto features and replicate many actions and activities using the same and/or similar tools and features. 

Panopto Basics

Hosted and facilitated by Panopto, the “Panopto Basics” workshop is designed for beginner users who would like to learn how to use Panopto to create, host and deliver video content. This workshop will focus on how to use Panopto’s most commonly used features, including browser-based recording, video upload, options for sharing videos, and ways to organize and manage the content library.

Hosted by DELTA staff, this brief overview of Panopto will fill you in on the gist of this new technology.

Panopto Advanced

Hosted and facilitated by Panopto, the advanced workshop covers a specific topic and is designed for users with an understanding of Panopto’s basic functionality and use. You will learn about advanced content creation, video editing, student-created video, quizzes, video settings, delivery options, captions, discussions, privacy settings, tagging and more.

Designing Your Online Course

The “Designing Your Online Course” workshop includes an overview of the QM Rubric and provides a framework for participants to design an online course plan. The workshop revolves around the exploration of the eight General Standards of the QM Rubric, focusing on learning objectives and overall course alignment. Participants will complete a Course Development Plan.

Teaching Online at NC State

Attend this workshop to learn the fundamentals of teaching online at NC State, including university policies impacting online instruction and WolfWare technologies. We will also explore campus resources for online learning and review the essential components of a quality online course.

Each day will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. There will be multiple breaks throughout the day and sessions to choose from.
