July 2018 Mediasite Administrator Update(Archive)
An important My Mediasite upgrade and a pre-semester MUG meeting are highlights for this Mediasite Admin update.
MUG Meeting August 1, 2018
The next NC State Mediasite Users Group (MUG) meeting is Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in Parks Shops 130 on the main campus. Lunch will be provided! We need to know how many people will have lunch, so please RSVP via this link.
We encourage all college-level Mediasite Admins and associated IT personnel to attend. It’s a good opportunity to do a check-in prior to the start of our busy Fall 2018 semester.
Mediasite Server Upgrade Saturday, July 14
The production My Mediasite instance will be offline Saturday, July 14 for a server upgrade. We don’t expect the upgrade to take all day, but the whole day is reserved for upgrading and testing, so outages could occur at any time.
Details will be posted to SysNews. Upgrade elements:
- Saturday, July 14 My Mediasite instance goes offline. Access to My Mediasite online will not be possible. Users can record locally, but will not be able to upload or view what has been recorded.
- My Mediasite will be upgraded to server version 7.2 and will be renamed mediasite.wolfware.ncsu.edu. Links to existing My Mediasite content will redirect to the new instance.
- There is an interface change for the My Mediasite user portal with this upgrade.
- Sonic Foundry has 15 videos on the Mediasite YouTube channel that cover all My Mediasite functions using the new interface. The following link has them grouped together: My Mediasite videos (latest version)
- We are emailing all My Mediasite users directly with this information.

Note from Sonic Foundry
A modest change is being made to Sonic Foundry’s server and recorder software numbering system. Recorder software images and versions will be odd numbers, and server versions will be even numbers.
- After the 7.1 recorder version series, the next recorder iteration will be 7.3.xx,
- The next server version after the 7.2 series will be 7.4.xx.
