DELTA Grants Help Faculty Transform Outcomes
Many faculty members have innovative ideas to increase student success but may lack the educational technology experience, access to multimedia or personnel resources or time to take action.
DELTA is seeking collaborative partners from diverse disciplines across campus for the 2018-2019 DELTA Grants cycle. Partners will work with staff to provide innovative solutions for educational challenges.
DELTA Grants is a competitive awards program for NC State faculty and staff. Award recipients whose projects are accepted for funding receive DELTA personnel support for the planning, design and development of online and distance education courses, blended learning, traditional courses, projects and faculty peer outreach assistance.
Five Quick Facts About DELTA Grants
1. The Rapid Design grant is new for 2018-19.
- We have added a new grant for faculty who need guidance and templates to produce an Online and Distance Education course on a quick timeline (3-4 months).
- Provides faculty a series of three targeted, one-to-one consultations to help guide faculty through the application of DELTA-developed templates and step-by-step guides to ensure they have the tools and skills necessary to design or redesign their courses.
2. Faculty Fellows grants are available to share best practices with your peers.
- Meet our current Faculty Fellows, who work with colleagues by leading workshops, writing articles and sharing their expertise in teaching with technology.
- Faculty can use stipend for travel to share teaching with technology experiences at conferences.
3. Other innovative grant types include Blended Learning, Critical Path, Exploratory and Online and Distance Education.
- Blended Learning (BL) Grants – Design and development of instructional materials for environments combining face-to-face and online learning.
- Critical Path (CP) Course Redesign Grants – Provides support for the full or partial redesign of critical path, large enrollment courses required for graduation.
- Online and Distance Education (ODE) Grants – Provides design and development support for a new ODE course or the creation of instructional materials for revision of an established course.
- Exploratory (EX) Grants – Allows faculty to investigate a unique instructional challenge in an existing course or exploration of targeted emerging technologies (think virtual reality, augmented reality and more).
4. Grant funds and resources are focused on your instructional solutions.
- Hands-on and specialized assistance in instructional design and multimedia is included in your grant award.
- Grant recipients have a DELTA team assigned to work with them for the duration of their project.
- Depending on the scope of the project, the team may include instructional, multimedia and web designers to help bring your proposal to life.
5. The proposal submission system is open from March 26–April 27, 2018.
- We have an overall RFP to help you determine which grant type is right for you and requirements.
- There are grant-specific RFPs with more information and a worksheet with the submission system questions to help you plan your proposal.
Faculty interested in submitting proposals are encouraged to attend one of our group consultation and Q&A sessions held March 27, April 13 and April 16.
All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. April 27.
