ELI Online Fall Focus Session: Emerging Technologies, Innovation, and Academic Transformation

We all feel the need to innovate and transform our current practices to keep pace with a landscape that is rapidly evolving. While there is no shortage of innovations in teaching and learning, the process by which we discover them, select them for pilots, and consider them for full-scale implementation can be challenging. Some of the questions we face include:

• How do we establish and cultivate an organizational culture that promotes innovation and transformative thinking?
• What processes are best to help us identify the innovations and opportunities that will make the most difference to student success?
• How can we construct pilots that will provide us with the information we need to decide if the innovations we’ve selected are going to address the issues we seek to solve?
• How do we know when, if, and how we should scale up our projects from the pilot stage to production and to what level?

You are invited to join DELTA and the Office of Faculty Development, as we host the two day “ELI Online Fall Focus Session: Emerging Technologies, Innovation, and Academic Transformation” on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 2nd and 3rd, from 12 to 5 PM each day in the DH Hill Library Multimedia Seminar Center. Attendees will have the chance to be engaged, alongside the teaching and learning community, in addressing these questions and exploring the most successful models for working with instructional innovations. We will also tour institutional examples of higher education incubator models, various pilot structures and processes, rubrics and methodologies for evaluating pilots, and considerations and tools to scale innovations to varying degrees.

Registration is not required, and you will be provided with any session materials and resources on the day(s) of the event.

Directions to the MSC are as follows: Enter D. H. Hill Library from the brickyard. Go through the turnstile and turn right. On your left are stairs and elevators; take one to the 2nd floor. Once on the 2nd floor, turn to your left and follow the aisle on the left, keeping the book shelving on your right. At the end of the aisle, continue to the left into the East Wing. Turn right at the second carpeted hallway and continue halfway down. The MSC will be on your left.
