Moodle Checklist and Moodle Course Roadmap

Checklists aren't just for groceries and roadmaps aren't just for road trips!

If your students ever feel overwhelmed or unsure where to start, Moodle has two tools that can make a big impact on their organization, motivation and progress tracking: Moodle Checklist and Moodle Course Roadmap.

Moodle Checklist

Perfect for modules, assignments, or multi-step projects, the Checklist activity helps students track required tasks and even add their own depending on instructor settings. It’s quick and easy to set up—especially useful for instructors working section-by-section rather than mapping the whole course at once. Activities can be automatically checked off for students if you set up activity completion. Moodle Course Roadmap

The Course Roadmap activity provides a visual “big picture” of your course, helping students see progress across phases and modules of the course. It takes more planning and configuration than the Moodle Checklist, but is powerful for whole-course organization and long-term motivation. Tips for Both Tools

  • Build before the semester starts to avoid mid-course changes and confusion – particularly important for the Moodle Roadmap.
  • Use Checklist for module-level tracking and Roadmap for full-course guidance.
